Annual Conference Update with Marcus Ricks

Greetings, below is the presentation from our church’s Lay Leader, Marcus Ricks, on the updates, changes, and experiences that he and Pastor Dorsia had during their time at Annual Conference two weeks ago. You may notice a deficiency in audio quality that persists for approximately the first 10-15 minutes of the audio and video*. The problem was corrected at that point and you should experience better sound quality from that point forward. We apologize for the technical issue and are working to resolve it before next Sunday’s sermon.

An Inviting Life – Destination Unknown

Greetings! We apologize for the delay in getting the video and audio posted! Additionally, we apologize because, as you will notice, the first bit of the sermon was not recorded.

“1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

2 “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”

4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.” Genesis 12:1-4

Matthew 20:28 (ESV)
Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

John 13:13-15 English Standard Version (ESV)
You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.

“God wants us to be a part of awesome things,but we have to say yes to doing something… There is always something you can do even when you’re in the busy season of life.” -Tim Tebow

What will you say YES to this week?

An Inviting Life-In the Right Place

Luke 19:1-9

1Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. 7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” 8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.”

No More Words – Why Are You Crying Out To Me

15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.  Exodus 12:15-16
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28: 18-19

No More Words – Eat This and Go

3 Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
4 He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them. 5 You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language, but to the people of Israel— 6 not to many peoples of obscure speech and strange language, whose words you cannot understand. Ezekiel 3:3-6
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15: 7

No More Words – Burn the Scrolls

17 When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. 18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. 19 A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. 20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.  Acts 19:17-20

No More Words – Actions that Speak

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18
